Chief Minister Terry Mills flew to Perth yesterday to continue negotiations with the key stakeholders involved with getting gas for Gove.
The Northern Territory Government has offered Rio Tinto the gas they have requested, provided a replacement gas supply is made available to Power and Water.
However the opposition has said the trip is Perth is not necessary and if the Mr Mills does not make a deal quickly the refinery will close.
Yesterday the residents of Nhulunbuy held a rally, asking Mr Mills to find a viable solution to the problem as the fate of the town relies on the operation of the refinery.
