Northern Territory Police are reminding boaties to use adequate communication when on the water, after responding to a distressed call from a family concerned about the safety of fellow family members on the water.
The party were expected to return from a weekend fishing trip yesterday evening, but only returned to land at 5 o’clock this morning, with no prior communication.
Watch Commander Lousie Jorgensen said the incident should serve as a reminder to all boaties.
“Make sure when they go fishing and when they’re out of the water, they have all the appropriate safety equipment, including communication devices and to inform people exactly where you’re going and your expected time of return”
