Attorney General and Minister for Justice, John Elferink, has expressed his disappointment with the Labor party’s decision to not support the assault on workers bill.
Despite the opposition not supporting the bill, it still passed through The Northern Territory Parliament yesterday.
The bill introduces a new offence of assaulting a worker, which carries a maximum penalty of 7 years imprisonment where the victim suffers harm.
