HVDRA News: Off Street Racing Returns for 2013

The drag racing season will make its second attempt at kicking off this Friday after rain resulted in the cancellation of the traditional Good Friday Test & Tune.

The action is bound to be hard and fast with a number of new cars scheduled to hit the track for the first time in 2013. One driver making the leap is Todd Knight.

Knight has taken a mammoth leap from the grass roots of off street racing in his HSV Clubsport to purchasing a Chevrolet Pontiac from America. Sporting a 10.35L V8 (632ci) Knight will be taking it easy as he performs his compulsory licensing passes in a car that has the potential to run 7 seconds, nearly twice as fast as his HSV.

But it’s not all about the big guns, the night is also set to feature the return of Beat the Heat Off Street racing with any street car or bike able to take a run down the quarter mile and see how fast they really are.

Passenger rides are also available again in 2013 as part of an ongoing initiative to educate and attract more grass roots competitors to the sport of drag racing.

Gates open at 6pm with racing underway from 7pm this Friday night at Hidden Valley Drag Strip.

Proudly supported by Beat the Heat NT, Hidden Valley Ford, Shannons Insurance, Lucas Oil & CSE Comsource
